Secondary education in rural Honduras

Many young people in rural parts of Honduras struggle to study beyond primary school, because their families can’t afford to pay for their education. This project is helping young people from the community of Los Puentes to study at secondary level, with two local volunteer teachers, Feliciano and Milton.  They are borrowing space at the nearby primary school which has a whiteboard, tables and chairs and are using a programme called “Maestro en Casa” (Teacher at Home) which broadcasts supplementary lessons via the radio.  The project has been financed purely by local donations for about four years and we are pleased to be able to come on board now with much needed extra funding.
